Villa Bernardi

Villa Bernardi is a beautiful and spacious Tuscan farmhouse property situated on a hillside in the Panzano region of Tuscany, renowned for its premium Chianti Classico wines. Panzano itself is just 3km away with a selection of shops and restaurants and there is good road access for Florence, Siena and the Chianti Classico towns of Castellina, Greve, and Radda.
The saltwater swimming pool is reached by a stone path across the lawn and enjoys views across the Chianti countryside. Next to the pool is a beautiful covered pergola, sun loungers and an outdoor shower. The pool area is shaded by tall evergreen trees and is very private and enclosed.
The property dates back to the 11th Century and has been restored carefully to retain its original features and character. Laid out over 4 levels, this property is ideal for family groups with plenty of space to gather together to enjoy the special ambience of the Villa.
As you walk into the house you enter the parlour area which has two comfortable leather sofas and a wood burning stove where you can sit and relax. This area is ideal as an extra lounge area.
From the parlour you enter straight ahead, in to the large professional style spacious kitchen/dining room which has a range cooker, preparation island, large antique table and seating for 10 people, microwave, separate gourmet oven and a raised fireplace for grilling meats.
At the back of the main kitchen is a separate preparation area or working kitchen, this has a 'sub zero' refrigerator/ freezer, a dishwasher, an American style coffee machine and an automatic espresso machine.
From the kitchen there is access to a large fully furnished terrace with sun parasol and built in barbeque area.
To the rear of the second kitchen is a bathroom and utility room which is fully equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.
Also accessible from the kitchen is a fully equipped exercise room with state of the art fitness equipment including a treadmill, rowing machine, free weights and weight station and two stationary cycle machines.(Please note that children under 14 are not allowed to use the exercise room without adult supervision).
To the left of the parlour are stone steps leading to a hallway furnished with antiques; off this hallway is a bedroom (to the left) and the main living room (to the right). Bedroom 1 has a double bed, en-suite bathroom and ceiling fan.
From this bedroom there are large French doors leading out onto its own terrace with table and two chairs.
Off of the main living room there is a computer workstation with free access to the internet and email and also a printer as well as two double bedrooms. Bedroom 2 is tastefully furnished and has a ceiling fan and large wardrobe. There are lovely views from the windows of this bedroom.
Bedroom 3 is a larger room, also with ceiling fan and large wardrobe and, in addition, a dressing table and sofa. Bedroom 2 and 3 share the bathroom which is across the landing. This is a bright and airy room with bathtub and handheld shower, separate 'open style' shower, heated towel rail, WC and washbasin.
A set off steps off of the hallway lead to the living room, which is well furnished with enough sofa space to accommodate everyone, a large fireplace - the focal point of the room, satellite TV, DVD (multi-region), video and CD player. To one side there is a computer workstation with free access to the internet and email and also a printer.
Large French doors lead out to the garden and another furnished terrace area. There are beautiful views across the open countryside from this garden area.
Leading off from the living room is a corridor that gives access to bedrooms 3, 4 and 5. Bedroom 4 is first on the right, this is a large double room with ceiling fan and separate dressing area.
The room is furnished with antiques, including a grandfather clock, and in the bathroom you will find an unusual marble shower surround.
Bedroom 5 interconnects with bedroom 4 or alternatively you can access bedroom 5 by stepping on to its private furnished balcony which is at the end of the corridor. Bedroom 5 has a double bed, ceiling fan and large en-suite bathroom with glass enclosed shower cubicle and marble and wood washbasin. There are great views of the vineyards from the balcony of this bedroom.
A welcome basket is provided for you on arrival.
Maid service and linen change on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Wine tasting and a tour of the owners vineyard - Monte Bernardi - are included for any guests staying at the Villa.
For other services available click here.
There are no other rentals on the property. The owners live, in an apartment adjacent to the villa, with their two sweet shy shelties, Lotte and Oskar. They are only seen when needed, acting as custodians and problem solvers, and do not access the guest’s private outside areas (pool area, 3 patios and back yard/garden) except for occasional maintenance.

Pool Info
The swimming pool is located in the well maintained gardens, reached by stone steps laid in to the lawn. It is completely enclosed and shaded by large evergreen trees with views through to the Chianti countryside below.
Wooden sun loungers are provided and there is a lovely pergola to the side of the pool with table and chairs. There is an outside shower next to the pool.
The swimming pool is saltwater and is 15metres in length. The depth varies because of the shape of the pool; at its deepest it is 2 metres. There are built in steps to enter the pool but no handrails.
The pool is open from May to September.
Nearest town
The nearest town is Panzano which is 3.5km away, it has grocery stores, green grocer, Sunday market, pharmacy, cafes, restaurants, post office and ATM. Panzano is also home to Italys world renowned butcher, Dario Cecchini.

The vista’s are breath taking, the kitchen facilities are 1st class and the best I have ever seen in a private villa anywhere. All the bedrooms are spacious, with high ceilings and are impeccably furnished. The staff is excellent and friendly and the fine infinity pool was a dream. There are may outdoor patio’s which are lövely to dine on. Michael, Sally, Willy and Suzanna were friendly, we were made to feel at home immediately, and our privacy was never compromised. I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
