Torretta Barbischio

Torretta Barbischio is a wonderful Tuscan villa located on the edge of a typical medieval Tuscan village where there is a good restaurant. A short distance away is Gaiole in Chianti.
There is a large pool surrounded by sun beds and umbrellas. It overlooks the valley and hills of the Chianti which provide it with breathtaking views. Next to the pool is a small gym.
The high quality Tuscan villa is in a well manicured terraced garden which has excellent views to one side while the other side looks up the slope back into the small medieval village of Barbischio. It is laid out over three floors with the main entrance on the middle floor. The villa is completely furnished is a romantic Venetian style.
On entering there is a large, spacious lounge with a typical vaulted terracotta ceiling. This bright room has a large comfortable angle sofa and an armchair. In the centre of the room is a wooden coffee table and a high quality rug. The window looks out to an fantastic view of the Tuscan hills.
To the back of the lounge and up 3 steps is the master bedroom. The room is furnished with a large double bed with cushioned backboard, a big wooden wardrobe, chest of drawers, armchair with foot stool and an antique wooden bench. The ceiling has the traditional Tuscan beams and terracotta tiles. The windows look to the back of the property. En- suite is a marble bathroom with shower, done with pale brown colours.
Going to the floor below there is a large kitchen which has been tastefully furnished and done in grey and orange colours. In the centre of the room is a wooden table that can be opened up to seat 10 people. Along one wall is the kitchen unit which is well equipped with all utensils and includes gas hobs, oven and fridge with freezer.
From the kitchen a large glass door leads out to the eating terrace. Here there is a stone barbeque to one side. From the iron table that seats 6 people there is an incredible view of the countryside and Gaiole in Chianti in the distance.
Up a couple of steps to the back of the kitchen there is a second door accessing a covered terrace. Going up a further few steps is a reading room furnished with an armchair, a stone bench covered with cushions and a small bookcase with a selection of books. To the back is a toilet and a laundry room.
Going from the lounge to the top floor there are two more bedrooms. On one side is a large double bedroom with a built in wardrobe and an antique chest of drawers. At the foot of the bed is a divan with a matching armchair in one corner. The window looks out to the amazing view at the front of the villa. En-suite is a bathroom with shower.
The second double bedroom is up a couple of steps to the back of the villa. The floor is covered with wood and the ceiling has wooden beams and terracotta tiles. The double bed has a lovely iron backrest. The room is furnished with an armchair, wardrobe and writing desk. En- suite is a bathroom with shower.
The immediate neighbour can see into the Torretta Barbischio's gardens.
There is a road passing the villa, it goes into the village and is used only by residents of the small village.

Pool Info
The pool is at the lowest level of the villa and the terraced gardens. It is surrounded by a white stone paving and pretty flower beds. To one side is a well maintained lawn. From this area there are fantastic views of the Chianti hills dotted with castles and Tuscan villas.
The pool is surrounded by several sun beds and a couple of umbrellas for shade. The neighbouring villa can see this area. The pool is 11x5 metres and 1.5 metres deep. It's open from April to October.
To one side of the pool there is a small home gym, well equipped for workouts. In the gym there is a bathroom with shower.
Nearest town
The nearest village is Barbischio, it is immediately behind the villa. There are no shops in this village however there is a restaurant called Papavero about 50metres away from the villa. The nearest town is Gaiole where there is a selection of shops and restaurants. This town is about 3km away.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
