Near the Tignano Castle, San Romolo lays 3km from a quaint medieval hamlet, Barberino Val d'Elsa. This farmhouse has been fully restored into a comfortable holiday home peacefully surrounded by olive groves and vineyards.
In the garden there is a large swimming pool with fantastic views of the hills around the property. Sun loungers surround the pool. In the grounds of San Romolo there is a stone built oven and BBQ.
On entering the house to your left you find a sitting area that opens into a larger lounge. In this room there is SAT TV and a CD player. At the end of the lounge there is a small hall off which you find a double bedroom and a small bathroom with open shower.
A few steps down from the lounge there is a fully equipped kitchen that includes gas hobs, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven and washing machine. In this room there is a dining table that seats 10. From the kitchen there is access to a furnished terrace ideal for meals al fresco.
The first floor has 3 bedrooms all with wonderful views of the Tuscan countryside. Two of the bedrooms are doubles and one is a twin. This floor is paved with parquet. There are 2 bathrooms that have showers.
Also on the property is a small studio that comprises a living area with kitchenette, double bedroom and bathroom with shower. There is access to the garden and a small terrace.
San Romolo is attached to another villa but there is still privacy in the gardens, terrace and by the pool.
While staying at San Romolo the owners can organise massages (ayurveda,shiatzu, reiki) for you to enjoy at the villa.
On request they can also book you for dinner in a nearby restaurant for the day of your arrival.
The house is comfortably furnished with several antique pieces.

Pool Info
The pool is located lower than the house, in a private sheltered corner of the garden. It overlooks the surrounding Tuscan hills dotted with hamlets and covered with olive groves, vineyards and woods.
Around the pool there are sun loungers that provide a wonderful location to enjoy the views while soaking up the warm Tuscan sun.
The pool is 12x6 meters and 1.60meters deep. It is open from June to September.
Nearest town
Barberino Val d'Elsa, 2km away, is the nearest village, it is a small hamlet but there are shops there. There is another village, Tavernelle, which is 3km away where there are some restaurants and a supermarket. In the town Poggibonsi, 10km away, there is a large supermarket and wide selection of shops. An excellent restaurant that we recommend you try is La Fattoria, which is located just before Tavernelle

Die Lage des Hauses - nicht weit vom nächsten Ort - trotzdem völlig ruhig und ungestört gelegen.
Wie war Ihr Gesamteindruck von der Unterbringung? Das Haus war sehr geräumig und gemütlich, perfekt geeignet für 9-10 Personen. Liebevolle und zum Ambiente passende Einrichtung, schöner großer Garten und der Pool mit herrlicher Aussicht auf die Umgebung, große Terrasse, auf der sich die meisten gemeinsamen Aktivitäten abgespielt haben. Kleiner Nachteil: Küche war nicht 100% sauber, Backrohr hat nicht funktioniert
Gab es unangenehme Überraschungen? wesentlich mehr Gelsen als erwartet!

Overall impression: Perfect for us.
Highlights: Every day was a highlight! We especially enjoyed our dinners prepared and served by Mario. Anna and Katarina--the food was delicious and we fell in love with all 3 of them!!
Unpleasant surprises: The mold etc. in the kitchen(which was cleaned on Sunday) and the shower in the first floor bathroom--it did not drain!! [Our response: we have informed the owner who is resolving the issue]
This was a family vacation (all adults) and it was a "Practically Perfect" vacation for 8 people--ages 29-68, and that is quite remarkable!! Thank you for a wonderful and happy, happy Italian experience with memories to last a lifetime!!

Just a note to let you know that we all (10 of us ranging from 5 - 65 ) had a fantastice time in Italy. The house was super very comfortable and cool when it was really hot. All the bathrooms and beds were absolutely spotless.
The pool was a real hit with the kids and we particularly loved the lights around it when we went for our evevning dips. The locality was truly beautiful the views from the garden stunning, and the local town of Ta vernelle proved to be a real hotspotin the evevning when it came alive for outdoor concerts with lots of yummy ice cream.
We would recommend it to anyone and would return tomorrow if we could. Top place visited was Siena, top pizzeria in Barbarino - Archibugio and ice cream shop in Tav Il quinta a hit with the kids and the adults too!
Lovely owner living locally was a real bonus too as she booked lots of restaurants museums doctors appointments etc etc nothing was too much trouble.
We feel as if we only scratched the surafce of Tuscany and will definitely return.

When do I get road directions?

What is the cost of the dinners?
The owner can provide dinners at various prices, you must book at least 2 days in advance so that the cook is available for the day that you require. When booking please also confirm the number of people (minimum 6) and time you wish to eat.
All dinners include 3 Starters, 2 first courses, second course with 2 side dishes and 2 desserts.
Children under 10 pay half price.
Prices range from 30 to 60 Euro depending on the menu.
The items of the menus will be typical Tuscan and at the discretion of the cook based on available local produce. Drinks are included. The owners can also make home-made pizza on request.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
