Poggetto is located in the heart of the Chianti just a short 600 metre walk from the quiet, typical village Lucolena. The villa is a traditional Tuscan stone property filled with character and with pretty views of the forest and vine covered hills that surround it.
Down the large terraced gardens there is the small pre-fabricated pool. It's perfect for cooling off and sun bathing during the warm summer Tuscan days. The pool is surrounded by sun beds with umbrellas and there is a picnic table to one side to enjoy outdoor meals. From here there are wonderful views of the countryside.
The Villa was previously rented as two apartments so the layout is ideal for family groups to each have some privacy. On entering Poggetto you pass through an arched doorway into a comfortable lounge with a couple of armchairs and a sofa huddled around an open fireplace which can be used on cooler spring or autumn evenings. There is also a Sat TV in one corner of the room.
Continuing through another arch there is the dining room which is very characteristic with a high ceiling and the original stone walls. The room is well furnished with a table and chairs seating comfortably 8 people. On one side is a large glass window providing the room with lots of light.
To the left of the dining rooms is the first of the two kitchens. This is the main kitchen and is well equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, gas hobs and an oven. There is also a table with four chairs in the room. There is access to a bathroom with shower. A door leads out to a furnished terrace for meals al fresco.
From here there are stone steps the lead up to the mezzanine floor, where there is a double bedroom. This floor has a open metal railing looking down to the kitchen, therefore it is not suitable for children. The room itself has been done nicely with a tasteful mix of old and new. The roof is not full height.
To the other side of the dining room there is a large twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower. From this room stone steps lead up to the third bedroom which is also a comfortable double. The upstairs bedroom is open via the stairwell to the downstairs one making this a suitable combination for a family. There is a large window upstairs providing the room with a large amount of light and lovely views.
Going back to the entrance and lounge area there is access to the second, smaller kitchen, which has a gas hobs, a small fridge and an oven. To one side of the room is a sofa with TV and a table with chairs for eating. There is access to the outside from this room.
The fourth bedroom is accessed by wooden stairs from this smaller kitchen. They lead to the first floor where there is a bathroom with shower and a large private double bedroom. This room can be made into a twin on request.
600 meters walk to a small shop and village.
An unpaved road passes the front of the villa. It's used by guests of a neighbouring agriturism.

Pool Info
The pool is at the end of a path, a short distance from the house. It has wonderful views of the countryside and the hills of the Chianti and Valdarno. It's surrounded by sunbeds with umbrellas and has a picnic table nearby.
It is a small prefabricated pool ideal for cooling off at the end of a day sightseeing. The pool area is surrounded by a fence.
It is open from May to September and is oval shaped. It is 8x4 meters and 1.20 meters deep
Nearest town
Poggetto is located just 600meters from a little typical village, Lucolena, where there is a small shop. It is a Alimentare (grocery store) that stocks a fabulous range of local products and the essentials. The village also has a bar. Further a field, about 10km away, is Greve in Chianti this Chianti town is rich with typical stores
A few minutes drive from the villa there is a good restaurant, called Borgo Antico, it is in a the village Dimezzano.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
