Palazzo Sovicille

Palazzo Sovicille is a Renaissance palace built on the remains of the medieval castle that was part of Sovicille. The villa is located in the old centre of the village and is within walking distance of a shop and restaurants.
Dominating stone steps lead from the imposing villa down into the expansive garden that boasts excellent views of the Tuscan countryside with its rolling hills that surround the villa. In the garden there is an above ground pool surrounded with a wooden sundeck and furnished with sun beds.
The villa has a lookout floor with wellness center that has 360-degree views over the garden, distant fields and forests that make up the Montagnola area surrounding Sovicille. The spacious Palazzo Sovicille has been carefully furnished with many antiques allowing you to step into past eras of fine art and romantic knights, yet still providing you with the maximum of modern comforts.
The villa is entered from the main village square through an iron gate that leads into a courtyard surrounded by elegant arches. On one side white travertine steps lead to the ground floor. You enter Palazzo Sovicille into a large foyer that leads into a lovely spacious living room that has access to a small terrace.
On this floor there is a second living room that has steps to the villa’s park and to a large terrace that is shared with the neighbouring restaurant. The restaurant offers a catering service to the villa should you wish it. You can then choose if you wish to eat on your private part of the terrace or the restaurant’s part of the terrace.
To one side there is a large dining room and a simple kitchen with gas hobs, fridge/freezer, oven and dishwasher. Completing the floor are two bedrooms with twin beds, 2 bathrooms with bathtubs that have hand held showers and a suite consisting of a double bedroom, small sitting area and an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and hand held shower.
Stairs lead to the second level that has a comfortable living area. There are 3 bedrooms on this floor. One is with twin beds and has an en-suite bathroom with bathtub with hand held shower. There is also air-conditioning in this room.
The remaining 2 bedrooms all have double beds and en-suite bathrooms. The bathrooms are either with bathtubs that have hand held showers or with showers. Some of the bedrooms have air-conditioning while the rooms without air-conditioning have screens at the windows. A laundry room with washing machine and dryer completes the floor.
This villa can also be rented with 12 bedrooms. When renting it with 6 bedrooms some of them will be locked off therefore the bedrooms actually available and those displayed in this description may vary. If you have a preference for double or twin rooms please indicated this when booking. You may choose to have 6 doubles or 3 twins and 3 doubles.
Due to the amount of valuable items in the villa children under 10 years are allowed at this property on a request basis only upto a maximum of 4.

Pool Info
The pool is located in the large grounds of Palazzo Sovicille, about 200meters from the villa. It is an above ground pool that is surrounded by a wooden deck boasts excellent views of the surrounding Montagnola countryside. The pool is totally private and can’t be viewed from the villa nor any other building of the Sovicille.
The pool is not large but ideal for a cooling dip after a warm day sight seeing under the Tuscan sun. There are several sun beds around the pool.
It is 4.5 x 9.5 meters and 1.20 meters deep. The pool is open from June to September

Attached to Palazzo Sovicille is a restaurant, on request they will also serve you in the villa.
The villa has access to the main square of Sovicille that has a small grocery shop and a couple restaurants, one of which is attached to the villa. Also in Sovicille there is a bank, from the village there is a bus to Siena which runs a only few times during the day. In the town Rosia, which is about 5minutes drive away, there is a larger supermarket and other restaurants. In the area around Sovicille there are several restaurants.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
