Gelsomino at Le Rocche di Valiano

Gelsomino is a lovely little barn located in the centre of the hamlet Rocche di Valiano. There are another 8 villas on the property, plus the owner's residence. To one side of Gelsomino is the owner's villa and to the other the main building of the hamlet. To the back is the small barn Ortensia.
Outside this lovely Tuscan villa is a terracotta terrace shaded by a wood and cane pergola. On the terrace is a large table with 6 chairs. Some privacy is provided by a hedge. From here there are fantastic views of the Chianti hills towards Siena, covered with vineyards and olive groves.
Going inside the villa there is a large open plan room. To one side is a fully equipped kitchenette which includes gas hobs, oven, dishwasher and fridge with a small freezer. In the centre of the room is a wooden dinging table with 4 chairs. On the other side are two armchairs and a simple double sofa. In a corner is a single sofabed. From this bright room there are three external doors, two lead onto the terrace while the third goes into the hamlet gardens.
To the back of the villa is a small hall off which there are two bathrooms with showers. There are also two bedrooms. The first bedroom is a small double room, furnished with a wardrobe and chair. There are doors into the gardens.
The second bedroom is more spacious. It is also a double and is furnished with a wardrobe and a writing desk with chair. There are wood and glass doors leading into the gardens.
The double beds cannot be made into twins. The villa cannot accommodated more than 4 people, however should a twin be required the sofabed can be used.
There is a small extra charge for pets.

Le Rocche di Valiano is a lovely typical Tuscan farm estate that has been carefully restored into a beautiful property of 9 villas plus the owner's residence. It has a fantastic position about 6km from Siena in the Chianti hills, providing it with excellent access to the city and the main routes to all the Tuscan sights.
On one side there is a large pool in full sun. It is surrounded by sun-beds and umbrellas. Between the pool and the rental villas there is the owner's villa.
From all around the property there are wonderful views of the rolling Chianti hills with winding cypress lined roads and dotted with little estates and villages. The hills are covered with vineyards, olive groves and some forests.
At Le Rocche di Valiano there is a small reception where clients can obtain information and assistance. Due to the layout the villa gardens are not seclude however each villa has it's own private garden in this well maintained hamlet.
Pool Info
The pool is located to the opposite end of the property from the car park. It is positioned below the owner's villa, in a lovely lawn surrounded by incredible views.
There are plenty of sun-beds shaded by umbrellas. It's the perfect place to relax after a day sightseeing. To one side there are roman steps to enter while the other side has metal steps. The pool is 12x6 meters and open from May to September
Nearest town
Siena is the nearest town. Within about 6km there are shops, pharmacy, banks and restaurants in the outer suburbs. The city centre is about 8km away. However within about 5km there is a restaurant.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
