Aia di Ama
Location address: Lecchi in Chianti - Siena
Aia di Ama is located centrally within the Chianti Classico wine producing region, just 3km from the delightful town of Lecchi. The villa has wonderful views across the local vineyards and olive groves and is a perfect base for exploring the region as three of the main Chianti towns – Castellina, Radda and Gaiole - are within a 10km radius of the Villa and Siena is just 30km away. The villa is traditionally built using local stone and has terracotta tiled floors and beamed ceilings throughout. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms at the villa, which comfortably accommodates 8 people.

The swimming pool is located close to the furnished terrace of the villa and is just a few metres from the villa. Sitting by the pool is the perfect place to appreciate the beautiful gardens of the villa and enjoy the scent from the flowers surrounding the pool. The pool is accessed by ladder steps and there is a shower at the poolside for additional convenience.

Outside, the paved terrace is furnished with tables, chairs, sun loungers and umbrellas and there are further sun loungers at the pool. To one side of the villa built in to the external stairs is a barbeque and pizza/bread oven that is perfect for al fresco dining.

From the terrace you overlook the gardens and surrounding countryside. Also to the side of the villa is the laundry/storage room of the Villa. Inside you will find a washing machine, clothes dryers, ironing board and iron.

Aia di Ama is arranged over two levels making the most of the natural position of the villa and affording you great views. The main entrance to the villa is on the ground floor close to the parking area but there are also doors leading from the first floor directly out to the furnished terrace and pool.

The ground floor entrance leads you into the large lounge/dining area with a double height, beamed ceiling and terracotta tiled floor. The double-height aspect gives the room a spacious and bright feel. It has two comfortable sofas, a table with bench seats, TV, Hi-fi and a fireplace with wood burning stove.

Passing under the stairs that lead up to the first floor, brings you to the kitchen/dining area with built in electric oven, gas hobs, microwave, fridge and freezer, toaster, table and chairs. To the rear of the kitchen is the entrance to the ground floor bathroom, which has WC, sink and shower and is tiled throughout.

On the opposite side of the corridor is the ground floor bedroom. This is bright and airy and has a large iron framed double bed, a built in wardrobe, chest of drawers and writing desk and chair.

The stairs lead up to the first floor where there are three further bedrooms and a bathroom. The bathroom has a full size bath and overhead shower.

To either side of the bathroom are double bedrooms. The first bedroom has a beautiful iron-framed bed, solid wood furniture throughout and high-beamed ceiling. There is also a double-door leading out to the furnished terrace of the villa.

The second double bedroom is the largest of the upstairs bedrooms and also has an iron-framed bed, built-in wardrobe, drawers, a writing desk and chair and also has doors leading out to the terrace.

Opposite this second double bedroom is the last of the bedrooms of the villa. This is a large room, which makes use of its space and sloping ceilings to offer a comfortable room with two single beds, a wardrobe, chest of drawers and linen chest for storage. There is a small window and also a dormer window with views over the countryside to give the room plenty of light.

A lovely traditional Tuscan stone cottage just 3km from the delightful village of Lecchi.
The pool has a shower area for added convenience.

SAT TV is news only.
Both terraces are furnished.

What were the highlights of your holiday? Exploring the Chianti region, taking a cooking class at a local restaurant, and spending time at the villa.
What was your overall impression of the accommodation?    All in the party LOVED it! It was extremely clean, with plenty of amenities. The homeowner obviously cared about the place. She even checked on us to see if there were any needs or problems.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises during your stay with us? No.
Do you have any other comments regarding the accommodation or service? I would recommend the villa to everyone. We all absolutely loved it. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Was waren die Highlights Ihres Urlaubs?

What were the highlights of your holiday? Running down to the tabacchi and back every morning (I'm a marathon runner so it wasn't a stretch!), visiting beautiful Siena, and having meals out at the local restaurants.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Fantastic. Beautifully clean and looked as though it had been restored last week. I had asked about the kitchen provisions as I am a keen cook, but I need not have worried. The kitchen was the best supplied I have ever seen, a whole range of implements, utensils, and cooking tins, trays, dishes and everything else. Stovetop espresso makers in 4 different sizes, full cutlery and crockery to set out a 5 course meal for 8, linen for the table, more glassware than you coudl ever use....perfect. The pool was pristine and kept that way throughout by early morning visits when we were asleep, and the villa in general was very well set out. Fantastic run down to the local tabacchi that was better stocked than the nearest supermarket! There might not be the same range of choice, but believe me you don't need it. Superb red wine for one euro fifty and wonderful fresh cooked breads and treats. All in all absolutely nothing to complain about and a lot to rave about!
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? None whatsoever.

Was waren die Highlights Ihres Urlaubs?

What were the highlights of your holiday? Waking up, jumping in the pool, eating, drinking, getting in the car and visiting Radda and other places in the region. Our kids loved it too.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Excellent. Even better than we expected.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? Snake swimming in the pool - more amusing than unpleasant. The owners initially seemed a little unhappy that we didnt pay a E500 deposit which we were told when booking we should not worry about. They seemed happy when we left so it wasnt a problem.
Do you have any other comments? The stay in Tuscany was a brillint way to finish our holiday. We loved it.

Hi Lisa, Dympna and all at 'To Tuscany',
I wanted to say that we had a fantastic holiday at Aia di Ama. The villa is fabulous, in a lovely setting, and Bianca delightful. It was the best villa accomodation we have ever experienced - everything you wanted was there and of the highest standard. The garden was also exquisite, along with the pool. Just perfect. To cap it all, we had a firefly display throughout the garden on every night of out stay! I've got a distinct feeling that in a few years when we have saved up our pensions we will return to Aia di Ama.
Very best wishes and heartfelt thanks.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
